Experience Melbourne from water level with kayak hire on the Yarra River.

Suited to novice paddlers and experienced kayakers alike, the trip uses stable fibreglass sea kayaks and begins with a safety briefing and paddling technique session on the riverbank.

Paddle upstream past Birrarung Marr and the sporting precinct, enjoy views of the Royal Botanical Gardens and riverside parklands, then continue toward Herring Island to explore the environmental sculpture park or visit Kanteen Café before returning downstream to the Boathouse Drive rowing sheds.

Itinerary

  1. Meet on the bank at 1-7 Boathouse Drive for check-in and safety briefing.
  2. Paddling technique session on dry land and get kitted up.
  3. Paddle upstream past Birrarung Marr and through the sporting precinct.
  4. Continue past the Royal Botanical Gardens toward Herring Island.
  5. Explore Herring Island sculpture trail or visit Kanteen Café.
  6. Paddle back downstream to finish at the Rowing Sheds on Boathouse Drive.

Meet on the bank at 1-7 Boathouse Drive, across the river from Federation Square; the hire starts and finishes at the Rowing Sheds on Boathouse Drive.
