When you choose a Kayak Melbourne tour you are in great hands, we have thought of everything to make sure you have the best experience possible. We have prepared a few answers to questions we get asked a lot to help if you are unsure of anything.

I have never been kayaking before. Is that OK?

Absolutely. Your guide will give you lots of help and the tour begins with a training component.

Is it safe?

There are inherent dangers with water based activities but all steps are taken to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable trip.

Will I get wet?

Generally no, you may get a slightly wet midriff or butt if it's very windy or raining. It is still a good idea to bring along a change of clothes if you absolutely have to look your best afterwards! Or at least a change of pants or slacks.

What kind of sea kayaks do you use on the tour?

State of the art fiberglass Sea Kayaks which provide a stable platform from which to enjoy the tour and take plenty of snaps along the way. For more info on the craft we use go to http://www.paddlingperfection.co.nz/product/seabear-ii-packhorse-doubles-kayak/

How old do I have to be?

10 yrs and older is recommended for all the tours.

I don’t know if I am fit enough?

If you occasionally play sport, walk, work out or are somewhat active you will be fine. The paddling is not too strenuous.

Can I paddle with a friend?

What if I want to come along by myself?

No problem! We will team you up with another paddler or 1 of our guides. We do not use single kayaks.

How long are the tours?

Moonlight Kayak Tour: 2.5 hours
River to the Sky Tour: 3.0 hrs
Yoga Sunrise Kayak Tour: 2hrs
City Sights Kayak Tour: 1.5 hrs

How many people on each tour?

Regular tours have a maximum of 12 but larger groups can be accommodated.

What does it include?

All your paddling gear, fish & chips (Moonlight and River to the Sky Tours), a guide, bottle of water, and Skydeck entry (River to the Sky Tour)

How much storage area is there in each boat?

LOTS! We use big stable sea kayaks which are designed to take big loads. The boats are big enough to take a medium size pack if need be. Day packs, hand bags etc are not a problem.

What do I need to bring?

You may wish to bring along extra water, hat, snacks and a camera. No special clothing is required - just dress appropriately for the weather. A change of clothes is a good idea if you are going out after the tour.

Can I take pictures?

Absolutely. There will be plenty of time for snaps along the way. Disposable waterproof cameras are ideal but we have had very few problems with digital cameras- so far! You can always ask your guide to hang on to your camera until you need it.

What if it rains?

Paddling in the rain is more fun than it sounds! The tours run rain, hail or shine; however, we reserve the right to cancel a tour if it is unsafe. If you are worried about the weather you can check the 4 day forecast for Melbourne before you book or contact us for more information.

What if I have already paid and the tour gets cancelled?

We offer you a refund or you can reschedule.
